Pakistani batsman, Umar Akmal has made the claim that some bookies approached to him about spot fixing in 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Pakistan Cricket Board, the regulatory body of cricket in Pakistan has called him to explain his comments before the Anti Corruption Unit on 27 June 2018. The show cause notice was served to him within hours after his disclosure about the corrupt approached to him during the mega event of cricket. He said that he was offered $200,000 to play the two dot balls in the group stage clash of Pakistan against India.
Akmal said that spot fixers approached to him before every game against the arch rivals and asked him to sit on bench for games. The cricketer told that he turned down the offers by telling that he was sincere to his country and they should stay away from him.
Under the provision of ICC Anti Corruption code 2018, a cricketer is bound to report any illegal activity t board when an approach has been made and ACU of PCB may work against him. Now it is to look whether the cricketer had already reported the incident to authorities or not ad failing in report is the breach of anti corruption conduct and the cricketers are liable to be punished. If he has not reported this incident earlier to the authorities concerned then his punishment would be far more serious.
