Captain Safaraz Ahmed scored 14 runs and Muhammad Amir made 13 runs while Faheem Ashraf could not open his account. Pakistan 7 batsmen returned to pavilion at 79 runs and it was seemed that Pakistani cricket team could not touch to the figure of 100 runs in this inning. The tail enders, Shadab Khan played well and he completed his fifty and scored 56 runs and he remained the top scorer of the second test match first inning. Hassan Ali managed to make only 24 runs.
When English team started its first inning in response to Pakistani 174 runs target, they scored 106 runs for the loss of two wickets. Joe Root is present at the crease with 29 runs with Dominic Bess, who is yet to open his account. From English side, Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and James Andersen took 3 wickets each.
