Dubai, The failures of Sri Lankan cricket team has made the journey of Pakistan easy to get the direct access to the world cup.
Till the final date of 30 September this year, the top 8 teams of the ICC ranking will get the direct access to the World Cup 2019. The other two teams will be selected through the qualifying round. Before the series against Zimbabwe, Pakistan was at the sixth position with 95 points, Bangladesh at 7th position with 94 points and Sri Lanka is at the eighth position with 93 points.
Sri Lanka played the home series against Zimbabwe in which Zimbabwe beat Islanders by 3-2 in the home series. Now the host team of Sri Lanka has faced the deficit of 5 points after being defeated by Zimbabwe but it has maintained its eighth position. Sri Lanka lost the chance to beat Bangladesh and Pakistan. West Indies played four one day international matches against India and they lost the series by 3-1 but West Indies is presented at the ninth position. WI got one point and it reached to 78 points and there is deficit of 10 points from Sri Lanka.
Islanders will have to play the next series against India in August, in which they will win at least two matches so that they can qualify direct in the world cup 2019. If Sri Lanka fails to do so, then West Indies will have the chance and hope. If India beat Sri Lanka by 4-1, then West Indies will have to beat England by 5-0 in the next series. If the Indian team does the clean sweep against Sri Lanka, then West Indies will have to win the series by 4-0.
According to the new world ranking of the international teams, South Africa is at the top with 119 points, Australia at the second position with 117 points, India on third with 114 points, England on fourth with 113 points, New Zealand on 111 and present on the fifth position. Pakistan has 95 points and it has sixth position, Bangladesh has 94 points and it has seventh position while Sri Lanka is present at the eighth position with 88 points. West indies is present at the ninth position as it has 78 points, Afghanistan at 10th position with 54 points, Zimbabwe is at 52 points and at the eleventh position and Ireland is at the 12th position with 41 points.
In the list of the batsmen, Babar Azam has maintained his 5th position, Virat Kohli is at the top position, David Warner is at the second position, Abraham De Villairs is at the third, Joy Roots at the fourth, Kane Williamson at the sixth position. Quinton De Cock is at the 7th position, Faf De Plessis is at the 8th, Martin Guptil is present at ninth and Hashim Amla is at the 10th position. MS Dhoni has improved his position and he reached to the 12th position while Ajinkiya Rahane reached to his career best position of 23.
Hassan Ali has shown the tremendous performance in the ICC Champions Trophy and he was the leading wicket taker in the mega event. Now he moves to the sixth position in the ranking of the bowlers. Josh Hazzlewood reached to the top position and imran Tahir is following on the second position in the ranking of the bowlers. Mitchell Starc is at the third position, Kagiso Rabada is at the fourth position, Trent Boult is on the fifth position.
