Chief selector of Pakistan cricket team, Inzamam ul Haq, says that Umar Akmal will not be able to participate in ICC Champions Trophy due to fitness problems.
The chief selector said while talking to media in Lahore that Umar Akmal was fit before Pakistan Cup but team management takes fitness test of every player before each series and when fitness test of Umar Akmal was taken in Birmingham twice, he failed both times. That’s why he is sent back from England to Pakistan. He added that Umar Akmal was also unfit during Australian tour, he must give attention to fitness.
Inzamam ul Haq added that Haris Sohail and Umar Ameen have performed in Pakistan Cup and their names are under consideration for selection. One of these players will be sent for Champions Trophy in place of Umar Akmal.
