Cricket is very interesting and it is about techniques and the real time information and statistics. In order to add the excitement and enjoyment in the cricket, International Cricket Council has made the partnership with popular chip maker, Intel and they introduce smart bats during coming 2017 Champions Trophy being played in England.
The chips will be used in the smart bats, which are dubbed with BatSense and they allow them to sense the swings of the bat.
Batsensing Bats
It is decided that three players of all international teams will have bat sensor installed on top of their bats. The chip will generate data on each swing of bat. ICC said in a statement that the new bat sensor is powered by the Intel Curie technology that can be added on top of their cricket bats to generate data for e stroke that the batsman uses.
With the use of this technology, the parameters like follow through, bat speed and back lift can be tracked for every stroke of cricket. There are different players of the teams will use these bat sensors in the 2017 Champions Trophy and it enables the new insights on the stroke play and the rich story telling.
Impact of BatSense
Intel has developed these chip sensors and sports the startup specular. With the use of this technology, the useful insights of back lift angle, impact momentum, bat speed and follow through will be measured with the use of sensors. The figures will be transmitted to the coaches so that they can do immediate analysis and the broadcasters will be able to use the information to bring the exciting content to the viewers.
The Hawk eye has already changed the whole cricketing scenario with the use of high speed cameras and ball tracking technology and the new sensors can bring the revolutions in batting side.
Players Who Will Use BatSense
It is confirmed that three players from each team will be selected for having the BatSense installed bats and the names of such players are yet to be installed. We know the names of English and Indian players, who will have the chips on their bats.
England: Ben Stokes, Alex Hales, Jason Roy
India: Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin
